چکیده

Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitides are characterized by destruction of small vessels, granulomatous inflammation of the respiratory tract and necrotizing glomerulonephritis. This review describes the clinical diagnosis and therapy as well as the pathophysiology of ANCA-associated vasculitides with a specific focus on the interplay of ANCAs with activated neutrophils and the deleterious pathophysiological consequences of neutrophil-endothelium interaction.

The antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitides.

Wegener's granulomatosis, microscopic polyangiitis, and Churg-Strauss syndrome are small- to medium-vessel vasculitides linked by overlapping pathology and the presence of antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA). Commonly referred to as the ANCA-associated vasculitides, these diseases are challenging to diagnose and to treat. Distinguishing the ANCA-associated vasculitides from other forms...

Anca-associated Vasculitis and Complement System Activation

Small vessel vasculitides associated with anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibodies (ANCA) are severe systemic diseases that may affect any organ. Increasing clinical and experimental evidence indicates that ANCA are causally involved in disease pathogenesis mainly through activation of neutrophils resulting in endothelial cell injury. Recent studies suggest a previously unsuspected but crucia...

ANCA-associated renal vasculitis--epidemiology, diagnostics and treatment.

The pauciimmune small-vessel vasculitides are multisystem diseases with frequent renal involvement. They are strongly associated with the presence of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA). In this review we have focused on the ethiopathogenesis and the role of ANCA, clinical presentation and histopathologic findings of different ANCA - associated vasculitides (AAV). Current treatment st...

ANCA-associated vasculitides: advances in pathophysiology and treatment.

Substantial progress has been made over the last two decades in our understanding of the immunopathogenesis of antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) associated vasculitides. Compelling evidence from in vitro studies and experimental models in conjunction with clinical trials has confirmed that ANCA directly contribute to the evolution and progression of the disease process. Continuous de...

Membrane proteinase 3 expression on resting neutrophils as a pathogenic factor in PR3-ANCA-associated vasculitis.

Antineutrophil cytoplasm autoantibody (ANCA)-associated small vessel vasculitides are systemic diseases characterized by chronic inflammation of blood vessels. These vasculitides are associated with the presence of ANCA which are, in most cases, directed towards proteinase 3 (PR3) or myeloperoxidase (MPO). In vitro and in vivo data have suggested a pathophysiological role in the ANCA-associated...
